Sleeping together: who snored, and what woke you

One of you snores, and by morning nobody agrees who. Wakira works for couples, with two phones: in the morning it shows which side of the bed the snoring came from. It won't guess or blame anyone, and it never compares who slept better. It only works if you both want it: you both sign in, and each of you decides what to share.

Which side

Each phone listens on its own side of the bed. A snore is put down to one side only when it was clearly louder on that side's phone and that person's device shows they were asleep at the time. Otherwise it says "can't tell".

In the morning it reads something like this: snoring came mostly from your partner's side, 9 times out of 12.

What woke you

If your device shows you woke in the night, and a sound from the other side came that minute or the minute before, you'll see it in the morning. It says only what happened and when, never why, and never whose fault.

Below, "What this phone sends to the other phone" and four switches, each with an explanation: "That my night is being measured" is off, "Sounds of my night" is on, "When I woke in the night" is on, and "My next alarm" is off.

Each of you chooses

Each phone has four switches, all off to start: "That my night is being measured", "Sounds of my night", "When I woke in the night" and "My next alarm". Only what you turn on reaches the other phone. Recordings, names, email addresses and heart rate never do, and the name you give your partner stays on your phone.

To tell which side the snoring came from, both phones need night sounds on and shared. To tell what woke you, both phones need that too, and you need a device measuring your night.

Below: "The code works once, until 00:13." and "Waiting for the other phone. Once it joins, the switches for what to send appear here, all off." At the bottom, the button "Cancel the code".

A gentler start

The first one up doesn't have to wake the other. When you both share your next alarm and one rings more than twenty minutes before the other, Wakira suggests letting the earlier one start softly and build over half a minute.

Wakira screen, with example data: "A gentler start". "Your alarm at 06:30 rings before your partner's at 07:15. It can start quietly and reach full volume over 30 seconds. Your partner's alarm stays as it is." Below: "This changes the alarm on every day it rings." The buttons are "Start quietly" and "Keep it as set".
