Deleting your data and your account · Wakira
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Wakira's Settings has two deletions, and they delete different things: deleting your data, and deleting your account. If you no longer have the app, you can ask by email for your account to be deleted. This page says what each way deletes and when.
Deleting your data, from the app
In Settings, under Data, the last row: "Delete everything on this phone". While you are signed in it reads "Delete the data on this phone and its copy in the account", because it deletes the copy in your account too. It asks for a confirmation you hold.
What is deleted from the phone, at once:
- your nights, the readings behind them and each day's totals;
- your alarms, which are also cancelled;
- meals with their pictures and photos, drinks, weighings and workouts;
- the night recordings and the list of sounds;
- your conversations with Wakira, what it remembers and the monthly summaries;
- your shifts, your calendar choices, your smart home devices, your profile and every setting.
Before the deletion, every smart home device Wakira switched on and has not yet switched off is sent its off. If an off was not confirmed, the screen names the device. After the deletion, Wakira starts again from setup.
What is deleted in your account, if you are signed in:
- the copy of your data: the backup runs at once and replaces it with the emptied phone;
- the meal photos held there;
- the night recordings held there, if their backup was on.
If you are linked with a partner in Sleeping together, you are unlinked before the deletion, and what both of you shared is deleted, on both phones and in the account.
If the phone is offline at that moment, the copy in your account is replaced only when Wakira next saves something while the phone is online and you are signed in; until then the old copy stays in your account. The meal photos and night recordings are deleted from the account once the phone is back online. An unlink that did not finish is finished the next time that account is signed in.
What stays:
- the account itself, and you stay signed in;
- the record that your account was given Plus at no charge, if it was;
- a wearable account you connected, which stays connected. You disconnect it from its own row in Settings;
- records Wakira wrote to Health Connect, until you delete them in Health Connect;
- files you downloaded, and a file saved before a restore, in your Downloads folder. Any app you allowed to read your files can read them, so delete them when you no longer need them;
- anything you shared or saved outside Wakira.
A measurement running at that moment is not stopped, and is saved in the morning.
Deleting your account, from the app
In Settings, on the Account row: "Delete the account and its stored copy". It takes a tap and a held confirmation, and then, in this order:
- you are unlinked from a partner in Sleeping together, and what both of you shared is deleted;
- the copy of your data in your account is deleted;
- the meal photos held there are deleted;
- the night recordings held there are deleted, if their backup was on;
- the account is deleted.
If a step fails, for example when the phone is offline or you need to sign in again, the deletion stops before the account is deleted, and the screen says it did not succeed. What was already deleted stays deleted, but while you stay signed in, Wakira backs your phone up to the account again, so try again, or sign out.
Within a day, Wakira's server also deletes:
- what it held for a wearable service you connected: the authorisation, and the record of whether it was connected and when;
- the record that your account was given Plus at no charge, if it was;
- any files left in the account.
What stays: everything on your phone, as it is; records Wakira wrote to Health Connect; files you downloaded; and anything you shared outside Wakira. To delete what is on the phone too, you can delete your data before you delete the account, or uninstall the app.
Without the app, by email
Write to support@wakira.app from the email address you sign in with, and ask for your account to be deleted. We reply to that address to confirm. Within 30 days of your confirmation, we delete the account, the copy of your data, your meal photos, any night recordings you backed up, your link in Sleeping together and what was shared in it, anything held for a wearable service, and the record of Plus given at no charge, if there was one. We cannot reach what is on a phone: uninstalling the app deletes that.
Uninstalling the app
Uninstalling Wakira deletes everything it keeps on the phone. It does not delete your account, the copy in it or the meal photos there: they stay until you delete them, or your account. If you were linked with a partner and did not unlink, the last nights you shared stay visible to your partner until either of you unlinks. If Android's own backup is switched on, Android may keep a copy in your Google account until it next backs up, or until you delete it in your phone's Google settings.
What is deleted when
- At once: what is on the phone, when you delete your data. The copy in your account, the meal photos, the night recordings you backed up and the link in Sleeping together, when you delete your data while signed in or delete your account, with the phone online.
- When the phone is back online: the meal photos and night recordings that could not be deleted from the account at the moment you deleted your data. The copy of your data there is replaced the next time Wakira saves something while the phone is online and you are signed in.
- Within a day: what the server held for a wearable service, the record of Plus and any files left, after the account is deleted.
- Within 30 days: everything held under an account, after you confirm a request by email.
